Hair colouring and styling for the big screen

Ian Powell of the Queen’s Hair Salon, based at the Queens Hotel, Penzance Promenade, was asked to colour actress Emily Browning’s locks to suit the Edwardian era of the movie, which was filmed around Lamorna.
He was then invited on to the main set which included dozens of extras and a 3.30am start, to work alongside other hairdressers from all over the country to create hairstyles for the film.
“I was very honoured to be recommended to help with the hair, especially Emily Browning in this important film for Cornwall,” said Mr Powell.
